Get to Know…Anthony Rizzo

Anthony Rizzo was acquired by the San Diego Padres from the Boston Red Sox in the Adrian Gonzalez deal, along with Casey Kelly (the major piece) and Reymond Fuentes.  Rizzo has been a legitimate prospect since splitting 2009, his age 19-season, between High and Low-A, sluggling 37 2B and 12 HR in 445 AB.  2010 was his power breakout year, as posted 42 2B and 25 HR between High-A and Double-A, while posting a somewhat weak .260/.334/.480 slash, but he was only 20!  As a 21-year-old in Triple-A, Rizzo has a Rizziculous 20 2B, 16 HR, 63 RBI and .365/.444/.715 slash in 52 games and 200 AB.

Rizzo has already pushed Brad Hawpe to RF in recent days, as he prepares for his Major League Debut on Thursday.  He will be limited in his production due to the Padres lineup and home stadium, but he is a legit prospect who should be owned in all lifetime leagues, all NL-only leagues, and is a player to watch in mixed leagues.  Not only can Snoop Dogg have fun with his name, but baseball fans have another prospect coming up to be excited about.  Now if the Jays would just bring up Brett Lawrie…
